Tuition and Fees
The Tuition and fees at the American University in Cairo for 2020-2021 are announced as follows:
Tuition for Academic Year 2020 – 2021
Undergraduate Tuition
The following are the undergraduate tuition rates per semester for the academic year 2020 – 2021 for new and current students:
- The tuition rate is based on a flat rate of $647 for Egyptian students per credit hour and $735 for international students per credit hour.
- For ELI, Egyptian students will pay $7,764 whereas international students will pay $8,820.
- Tuition rates at AUC are expressed in US dollars.
- Tuition and fees for Egyptian students may be paid in Egyptian pounds according to CIB exchange rate on the day of payment. Tuition and fees for international students must be paid in US dollars.
Tuition and fees are collected each semester. No student with an outstanding bill (including charges for breakage or library fines) will be admitted to any examination, given any certificate or report of academic standing, or be permitted to register for a subsequent semester.
Graduate Tuition
The graduate tuition rate is built on a flat rate based on the category of graduate programs. The following are the graduate tuition rates per semester for the academic year 2020 – 2021 for new and current students:
- Egyptian students enrolled in all majors: the flat rate is $579 per credit hour.
- Egyptian students enrolled in MBA and LLM: the flat rate is $677 per credit hour.
- International students: the flat rate is $735 per credit hour.
- ELI, Egyptian students enrolled in all majors, MBA and LLM will pay $3,474 whereas ELI international students will pay $4,410
- Tuition and fees for Egyptian students may be paid in Egyptian pounds according to CIB exchange rate on the day of payment. Tuition and fees for international students must be paid in US dollars.

Non-Degree Tuition
The following are the non-degree tuition rates per semester for the academic year 2020 – 2021:

Deferred Payment
Deferred payment installments:
When a degree-seeking student (undergraduate/graduate) is unable to pay the entire tuition amount at the time of registration, the student may apply for a deferred payment plan of two or three installments.
For New Students:
New students should apply at the Student Service Center.
No deferred payment in the winter semester.

For Current Students:
Current students should submit an online deferred payment request through Banner Self Service.
Payment may be requested in two or three installments.
How to apply for deferred payment?
Students can submit online deferred payment request as follows:
- Visit your Banner Self Service account by clicking here
- Log in with your AUC email username and password
- Click on student, then student account, and then apply for deferred payment
- Choose the financial year 2019-2020, and press the “continue” button
- Choose deferred payment application, and press the “continue” button
- Check for application submission deadline then press the “continue” button
- Click on “click to apply for deferred payment” and then “deferred payment”. Then check the “apply for this award” checkbox, and then press “save” and continue
- Check for options available (either two or three installments)
- Check “mark this section complete” checkbox then press the “continue” button
- Read the deferred payment agreement carefully. If you agreed to it check “mark this section complete” checkbox then press the “continue” button
- Press the “submit” button
- PDF form of the submitted application is available by pressing “generate PDF application”
- Deferred payment will be assigned automatically on your account within one business day after submitting the deferred payment application.

Important Notes:
- The balance must be paid by November 19 for the fall semester, April 6 for the spring semester, and July 12 for the summer semester
- Fall and Spring tuition can be paid in two or three installments
- No deferred payment in the winter semester
- Summer tuition can only be paid in two installments
- It is highly recommended to finalize course loads, scholarships and financial aid before applying for a deferred payment
Deferred Payment Calculation and Eligibility:
- Only degree-seeking students are eligible for a deferred payment (non-degree students are not eligible)
- Housing fees or any other types of fines will be added to the first installment
- The installment plan is available for current term tuition and fees ONLY
- Balance carried forward will affect your first installment
- In case a student has a credit balance, he/she must pass by the Office of Student Accounting and ask for transferring it to the subsequent semester
Note that students who fail to submit the online application by the dates stated above will have to pay the full tuition and fees.

Requirements for International Students Eligible to Pay Egyptian Student Tuition:
International students who meet the requirements of admission for Egyptian students, and wish to pay the Egyptian student tuition amount must submit originals of the following documents.
