De Niro attended PS 41, a public elementary school in Manhattan, through the sixth grade. He then attended the upper school of the Little Red School House, Elisabeth Irwin High School, for the seventh and eighth grades. After being admitted to the ninth grade at the High School of Music and Art, he eventually switched to IS 71, Charles Evans Hughes Junior High School.
